Swapping my running shoes for my pillow

When I started to feel a little under the weather at the beginning of this week I just thought it was due to the lack of sleep from our Houston excursion(refer to previous post). Unfortunately, when I woke up this morning with what felt like a golf ball in my throat, pounding head, & ear ache I knew I was coming down with something more than sleep deprivation. I didn't consider myself sick enough to miss work so I muscled through my day with a whole bag of cough drops, lots of fluids, and a nap during lunch. My training plan called for a six mile run today. I had a serious internal conflict as to whether or not I should run today. Half of my head was telling me "you're not feeling good you'll have a horrible run anyway." The other half of me kept saying "you really need to clock more miles this week, besides you made it through work today!" It's easy when someone else isn't feeling well to say "take a day off you silly person"! A different story when it's yourself! Luckily I swapped my running shoes for my pillow today! I may not have clocked more miles but I definitely clocked some much needed zzzz's! I read my fitness magazines to make me feel better about missing my workout and ate yogurt with honey and downed dark hot cocoa. Ps I have the most adorable husband who takes really good care of me when I'm sick.
