"A-coffee (hot cocoa in my case) without a-cream is like a-sleep without a-dream!"
"A-meal without dessert is like a-collar without a-shirt!"
-The Godfather
Oddly enough I have never seen the movie but read these quotes on one of my many guilty pleasure blogs...The Pioneer Woman! She is a wizard chef, magician photographer, and a little dash of everything in between!
But enough about that...this post is about a cupcake & cocoa love day!
I've decided one day i am going to open a quant little bakery called cupcakes&cocoa. It will be one of those places that transports you to a relaxing paradise; filled with the sweet aroma of chocolate and the sound of Michael Buble!
One day...
I've wandered off the beaten path again.
Preparations were in full swing at the Hansen household on Love Days Eve!
...vibrant colored candy hearts adorned with Love Day sayings found their home in various candy dishes...
...luscious red velvet cupcakes were whipped up, baked up, and finally dressed up with fluffy pink frosting&salted caramel chocolate soirée shavings...
...red, pink, green, and blue hearts were specially crafted with love...
...and a "Be Mine" banner was hung with special care in the hopes that my love soon would be there;)
Dustin was all out of sorts with what we believe was an unwelcome visit from the FLU!
Darn bug/virus almost wrecked me Love Day!
As not to get me sick (which didn't work) Dustin decided to sleep on the couch...
...the couch in the living room...
...next to the kitchen...
...the kitchen where I had planned to make breakfast...
...breakfast which consisted of heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes & cocoa...
...cocoa that I had planned to serve in his new "be mine" mug...
...the mug which was tethered to his "be mine" balloon...
...which hung above his "be mine" gift bag of goodies...
And just like that "poof", change of plans!
I woke a few minutes early to leave Dustin a "be mine" surprise...and headed of to work!
..my work day seemed completely unproductive as my co-workers and I gabbed about Love Day and gobbled down sweets!
After what seemed like a 8 hour work day turned into 48 hours due to anticipation I made the commute over the point of the mountain and through south Jordan to my Love Day house I went...
Waiting patiently for me on our kitchen table was the most gorgeously arranged bouquet of roses&lillies dripping in the most delectable shades of pinks, purples, and reds!
Next to my bouquet was a rather large, carefully wrapped package!
After a kiss with a squeeze from Dustin I opened the carefully wrapped package to reveal...
One gourmet hot cocoa maker built for two...
Dark chocolate ready and waiting to be melted in said hot cocoa maker...
And a special little box entrapped in a blanket of red silky wrapping...
In the box was an elegant display of creamy white pearls!
I love my Love Day guest of honor! He sure knows how to treat a girl, not just like a queen, but like she means the world to him every day!
After displays of affection and cries of joy we braved the brisk February air, hand in hand, to find a hot plate of yellow curry & fresh spring rolls at our favorite Thai restaurant.
On our way home we dropped off a goody plate of perfect melt in your mouth cupcakes to our best of friends, the DaBells!
We ended the night nibbling on cupcakes and sipping on cocoa while watching one of the best romantic comedies of all time...You've Got Mail.
Happy Love Day to all! Xoxo
